I LOVE MY NEW HOUSE !!! I have lived in my house for over 35 years and over the course of those years have thought about changing things around - But NEVER in my wildest imagination would I have dreamed of what Laura designed. Her ideas were imaginative and ‘out of the box,’ but totally suitable for me and for the style of house and neighborhood. It has made the daylight basement a true living part of the house and made access from the front street a pleasure rather than a chore. And the new view is awesome! I LOVE MY NEW HOUSE – I can’t seem to stop saying that. I enjoyed working with Laura. She was patient and supportive. She took my tastes and desires into consideration when making the decisions and choices that had to be made. I relied on her artistic sense when it came to choices for fixtures (lights and handles in particular) and the proper shades of paint to use. Between Laura and the whole Model Remodel team, (a green builder to whom Laura introduced me), the process of construction was for- the most part – almost fun, and the results are Amazing, Awesome and Uplifting. We hired Laura to address the dissatisfaction we had with some downstairs space as well as our desire to create an outdoor room that would allow us to enjoy our backyard year around. After some bad experiences with other architects we found her to be an extraordinary listener and creative problem-solver (design problems, technical problems, contractor problems as well as problems of differing opinions between the two of us). The outcome, visible on her website, exceeded our expectations and made what was a good house a great house. I would hire her again in a minute.

My goal was to add a painting studio to my house. I looked to buy another house for a year but never found one with a true studio. Consequently, I changed plans and decided to add a studio to my house. I found Laura from an article about her in the Seattle Times and I was especially drawn to an architect who lives in my neighborhood. Laura and I worked together through several plans until coming up with a great design in my price range. I appreciated that Laura listened to my ideas and incorporated many of them in the final plan. Laura, however, had the knowledge and creativity to come up with the perfect solutions. Since access to the studio was through the kitchen, it was also remodeled and the main floor opened up . Laura was immensely helpful during the building process in answering questions or solving changes. I now have a fabulous art studio that is beautiful and very functional, a great looking new kitchen, and an open main floor plan. It wouldn't have happened without Laura!

Laura was great to work with. We had some general ideas of what we wanted in our remodel but no firm vision of what it should look like. She took our ideas and brought them to life. Kathleen and I were not very fast in our decision making, in fact we drug out the design process for a year. Laura was very patient with us, never pressuring us but always there to answer our questions and move forward once we made our minds up.

We hired Laura to design a basement remodel on our 1919 bungalow (it was just an old, unfinished basement, so we were starting from scratch). Laura was a dream to work with. She's pleasant to deal with, has a great sense of humor, and really got what we were looking for. We still, nearly 6 years after the completion of the project, are extremely happy with the way it turned out, and wouldn't change anything. We highly recommend Laura, with no hesitation.
